Osterley Park and House
Osterley House is one of the last examples of a country house estate in the London area. Osterley originally created as a Tudor house in 1576 was remodelled in 1713 by architect Robert Adam, for the Child family. Built to showcase the owner’s wealth and power the house certainly fulfilled its objective. Maintained to a high level through the years the house has exquisite original features to view.
The house, once described as “the palace of palaces”, has some truly wondrous sights. The magnificence of the external stonework and the art works inside, which include 18th century Gobelins tapestries, are a must see for history or art enthusiasts. The grounds of the house are also a marvel to behold with landscaped gardens and park land adding to the splendour of the estate.

For those who are planning to visit Osterley Park and House there are many things to see and do whilst you are there.
- The House offer tours around its fabulous interior with digital tours using a hand held audio visual guides. A film is available to view in the stables showing an insight into life at Osterley. Guests can also gain a fascinating insight into the lives of the servants who worked and lived at Osterley in the below stairs area.
- Osterley Park offers outdoor activities such as cycling around the lake and walks around the park with free leaflets available showing routes. The house also hosts events throughout the year ranging from, Reel to Reel which explores films that have been shot at Osterley, to the Pumpkin Festival in October, which includes tastings and carvings.
- The gift shop is ideal for those who want a souvenir to remember their trip or to buy a present for someone at home. The shop offers a selection of locally made pottery and jams as well as other marvellous gifts. Stables Cafe and tea garden invites guests to buy a cup of tea or coffee. Providing a variety of light snacks and cakes as well as offering full lunches the cafe has a relaxing atmosphere and quality food. The estate’s farm shop is a great place to pick up some fresh local produce with seasonal fruit, vegetables and fresh eggs on offer.
Opening Times
Osterley House is open Wednesday to Sunday form 12.30pm - 4.30pm. The park is usually open from 8am - 6pm. The garden opens from 11am - 5pm. Opening times may vary due to filming and special events taking place at the house.
How to get to Osterley Park and House
Osterley Park and house can be found, by car, off the M4 west by taking junction 3 and following theA312/A4 towards central London. The main gates are at the junction of Thornbury and Jersey Roads. The nearest train station is around a mile and a half from the house at Isleworth and the closest underground station is about a mile away at Osterley, on the Piccadilly line.
