Lord's Cricket Ground
Lord's Cricket Ground, commonly known as 'The Home of Cricket' hosted its first cricket match in 1787 between Middlesex and Essex. The ground was named after bowler Thomas Lord, who was asked to set up a fair and flat ground in the mid seventeen hundreds as the then elitist sport was becoming more popular. Lord's Cricket Ground is now owned by Marylebone Cricket Club who take care of the ground and ensure the Laws and Spirit of cricket at Lord's are upheld. Lord's Cricket Ground is also home to the MCC Cricket Academy, MCC Library, Lord's Shop and MCC Museum. Tours of Lord's are also available on a regular basis for those keen cricketers who want to learn more, and see exhibits such as the Wisden Trophy and the Ashes urn.
Each year Lord's Cricket Ground plays host to England's Test matches and One Day Internationals, as well as most of Middlesex's home games. With our hotel conveniently located for any match taking place at Lord's, we are the perfect place to stay.
